With over 250,000 views on TikTok, UTD’s newest viral criminal has joined dozens of students across the nation in defacing their universities. Since Sept. 4, the self-proclaimed “UTD pisser” has publicly urinated in at least five locations on campus.
As of publication, the pisser has not responded to any attempts by The Retrograde to contact them, and their identity and motives remain unknown. Public urination activities at UTD are currently documented via an Instagram account called @utd_pisser and a TikTok account called @utd.pisser; both use the name of the UTD pisser but post different videos. Both accounts’ first post, however, was of the same video of a first-person perspective showing fluid being emitted outside the JSOM building. Each account provides a brief message in its description.
“Nobody knows,” @utd_pisser wrote in its biography section.
“utd will tremble,” @utd.pisser wrote in its own.
Each account’s posts were made between Sept. 4 to 12. UTDPD reported an incident of disorderly conduct — exposed genitals — in its crime log sometime between Sept. 3 and 13, and reported that the matter is currently under investigation. The Retrograde reached out to UTDPD for comment. As of publication, UTDPD did not respond.
The videos across both accounts show the UTD pisser seemingly urinating outside of JSOM, on the statue in TI Plaza, on the carpet in a yet-unidentified freshman dorm, outside the Activity Center, outside ECS North and on the UT Austin campus. The videos show yellow and clear liquids that resemble urine while audio from the show “Dexter” plays in the background.
The Retrograde found evidence of “pisser” social media accounts at over 50 schools in the U.S., with over 150 videos depicting urination on main campus forums, monuments, signs, statues and buildings. UT San Antonio, University of North Texas, Arizona State University, Illinois State University and Cornell are some of the schools impacted by the pisser trend. The “Boston College pisser,” which posted their first video Sept. 1, was the earliest pisser account The Retrograde identified, with the trend spreading rapidly across the country on Sept. 4.
In an interview with The Reporter at Minnesota State University, the self-titled “Mankato pisser” said that for legal reasons they used a water bottle to make their videos.
“It feels very comforting that nobody knows I am the pisser, I plan to keep it small,” the Mankato Pisser said to The Reporter. “I never made the account for the fame, I do it for the love of the game.”
While the Mankato pisser was able to avoid capture, the UT San Antonio pisser did not share the same fate. According to The Paisano, the student newspaper at UTSA, the pisser began their urination campaign after UTSA’s football loss against Texas State University. All their videos were taken down Sept. 12 and they posted the following statement:
“It is finished. I was caught and I take full responsibility. To the students, thanks for having fun with it, but it ends here. To UTSA, I want to say I am sorry for the trouble. For anyone thinking of making copycat pages, please stop. Do not risk getting yourself in trouble for something so dumb.”
The Retrograde spoke to Dominic Coletti, program officer for campus rights and student press at the Foundation of Individual Rights and Expression, to discuss the legality and possible First Amendment protections of public urination. Coletti said the government can regulate expressive activity when it has a good, content-neutral reason to do so, and UTD is well within its rights to regulate and prohibit public urination on campus. Texas penal code Section 42.01 categorizes public urination as disorderly conduct, which is considered a Class C misdemeanor in the state, punishable by a fine up to $500.
“Public urination — even where it is done to express a message — is banned to protect public health and is banned no matter what message the urinator is trying to express,” Coletti said.
The UTD pisser has not posted any new videos since Sept. 12.
Comet Comments:
The UTD pisser’s actions have made waves across campus, with some students calling for a “hunt” to find the pisser and others encouraging them to use one of the many restrooms on campus.
“Perhaps this is a powerful form of protest against the newly passed bathroom bill,” mechanical engineering freshman Austin Pruski said.
“I think the pisser is in cahoots with the squirrels and is just distracting us from the great squirrel uprising of 2025,” applied machine learning master’s student Saurabh Jadhav said.
“Go piss, girl,” neuroscience senior Ellie Maguire said.
“I am not sure what motivates the pisser, but what I can say is that common sentiment towards JSOM and ECS could have played a role in this,” electrical engineering junior Hemachander Rubeshkumar said. “The stereotype is that engineering majors are smelly and business majors basically just fill out coloring books. If I had to guess, it would be those stereotypes that placed a target on the buildings hit on campus.”
“Student Government is here to support everyone,” neuroscience senior and SG president Giana Abraham said. “I want the pisser to know, whoever they may be, that there are other ways to express your needs, wants and desires when it comes to the university.”
“I would appreciate it if the pisser stopped,” neuroscience junior and SG vice president David Baker said. “If this continues to be a significant issue, then Student Government will have to find some sort of fix to stop this.”
