The most common incident recorded in UTDPD’s police blotter during the fall 2025 semester thus far is theft, with amounts in stolen property varying from $100 to $150,000.
The Clery Act does not consider theft outside of motor vehicle theft and theft with a motivation for a hate crime to be reported; per these guidelines, the most commonly-reported crime within the past 3 years has been stalking, with three reports in 2021, eight in 2022 and nine in 2023.
The following account details 24 entries from the beginning of the semester, Aug. 25, until the Oct. 9 report.

Out of the 24 crimes dispositions, 2 are unfounded, 4 cleared by arrest, 1 is pending, 1 is inactive, 11 are under investigation, 1 is a non-assigned investigation, 3 are not noted and 1 is listed as an exceptional clearance.
Notable incidents include:
- August 28: Terroristic threat, cause of fear of imminent student bodily injury at Capella
Hall. Disposition is unfounded.
- September 8: Disorderly conduct where individual exposed their genitals on campus.
Disposition is under investigation.
- September 10: Theft at the Callier Center with an amount between $30,000 to $150,000.

UTDPD prepares a report called the “daily crime log” that is updated every two days. In compliance with the Clery Act, the log includes policies regarding campus security, substance use and crime prevention, as well as reports of crimes such as sexual assault, dating and domestic violence and stalking. The geographic scope covered by the log includes locations on campus, within the university patrol jurisdiction and on other Clery geography, such as buildings adjacent to and accessible from the campus.
Students are encouraged to report crimes and emergencies to the UTDPD. For emergencies, individuals should call 911, and for non-emergencies they should call 972-883-2222. Police communications officers are accessible 24 hours a day on both lines.
