UTD will hold a virtual town hall meeting Wednesday, March 25, at noon to answer questions about the series of unplanned power outages which have affected campus this semester.
The first unplanned outage this semester occurred March 4 and led to morning classes being canceled across campus. In a statement to The Retrograde, a spokesperson for the university said the outage was the result of malfunctioning infrastructure near Rutford Avenue, adjacent to the Bioengineering and Sciences Building and Natural Science and Engineering Research Lab.
The second unplanned outage began over spring break on March 17 and continued until roughly 2 p.m. March 22. As of publication, no cause for this outage has been provided. Dozens of students and faculty said that they had difficulty accessing resources needed for their work and research because they were housed in labs, classrooms and offices on campus that were locked because of the outage.
Students, faculty and staff can join this meeting virtually. Anyone can submit questions in advance using an online form before the meeting.
