At 8:10 a.m., Vice President of Administration and Chief of Operations Rafael Martín announced that the Sciences Building will be closed today due to a water line break that occurred earlier this morning.
This break only affected the Sciences Building. All classes scheduled to meet there today will be moved online and students are recommended to reach out to their professors for additional details. Staff who work in the Sciences Building have been advised to work remotely and reach out to their supervisors for more details regarding the situation.
According to Martin, the break has already been contained and contractors are currently on the ground examining damage and repairing it.
“We apologize for any disruptions this event may cause,” Rafael Martín said. “We will provide updates on repairs and reopening of the Sciences Building as soon as they are available.”
Update: July 13, 4:09 p.m.
4:07 p.m.:Martìn, in an email to all UTD students, faculty and staff, announced that all the damages have been repaired and all services have been restored in the Sciences Building. All classes will resume Tuesday, July 14.
