On August 5, UTD Theater announced that the department would be performing “Firebringer” this fall.
The show was first performed 10 years ago by StarKid Productions, a musical theater company known for freely uploading professional recordings of their shows, such as “A Very Potter Musical,” “The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals” and “Twisted.”
According to UTD Theater’s description of the show, “Firebringer” comedically stages a prehistoric tribe of cave people as they survive against woolly mammoths and saber-toothed tigers using the most important discovery in history — that of course being fire as the name implies.
“We’re looking for actors, dancers and voluntary technicians,” Marco Pinheiro, marketing senior and stage manager, said. “All our audition information can be found on our Instagram. Technicians can reach out to us at this utdtheater@gmail.com.”
With performances on Oct. 29, 30 and 31 as well as Nov. 1, 5, 6 and 7, UTD Theater is returning to its seven-performance musical schedule last used in “Heathers: The Musical” in 2024. Last year, “Shrek” sold out its six performances.
Show tickets are $15 for regular admission and free for UTD students with a Comet Card, as well as faculty and retirees with a valid UTD ID.
